Staying at Pine Sunset Lodge provides access to a chain of lakes including Wabigoon Lake and the Wabigoon River, which gives you 50,000 acres of water teaming with trophy game fish. Fishing on Dinorwic Lake is great for Walleye, Muskie, Smallmouth Bass, Pike, Crappie and Yellow Perch. We also have boat caches on several lakes with outstanding Lake Trout fishing.
The Muskie is the king of Ontario's lakes and considered the ultimate prize and a symbol of fishing skills and patience. They are the apex predators of the lake and the most exciting fish to have on your line.
Dinorwic Lake is also a lake where you can expect to catch something big, in particular, big Walleye. Off weed lines and off rocky points are the prime spots for Walleyes of all sizes.
Lake Trout are great eating and they are good for you too as their meat is high in protein, vitamins and minerals. If you have a small motor that can troll slowly; Lake Trout are easy to catch all summer long.
Dinorwic Lake is shallower and a little warmer than most lakes in Northern Ontario. It's healthy thick weed beds, rich forage base and many other features make it a virtual Jumbo Perch factory.
Dinorwic Lake is a rocky Canadian Shield Lake. Where you have lots of rocks you have lots of Crayfish and the Smallmouth Bass are feeding on them. Dinorwic Lake is swarming with Smallmouth Bass.
Black Crappie fishing has exploded on Dinorwic Lake. In the spring they are shallow in bull rushes or under logs along the shores. Trolling with 1-3/4” Hornet 4F lures that dive 5’ – 9’ has seen success.
Northern Pike are one of the most common fish in Northwestern Ontario. They are found in almost every lake and are easy to catch because they attack everything that moves. Dinorwic Lake is no exception. Even with our high Muskie population, Northern Pike still flourish and are one of the dominant fish species in the lake.
Ontario is the top Black Bear hunting destination in the world and we are fortunate to have one of the very best Bear Management Areas in the province. The terrain in our BMA (Bear Management Area) is ideal for Black Bears to prosper.
Our area has a very healthy population of Moose and they get big. The Ministry of Natural Resources performs Moose assessment studies every few years and this dictates the amount of adult tags that are issued for non-resident hunters.
